Yoga Vasistha
Yoga Vasistha was written by Sage Valmiki in the form of a dialogue between Sage Vasistha and his pupil, the young Prince Rama. It constitutes the basis of Advaita Vedanta, devotional nonduality. This ancient scripture expounds on a wide variety of topics such as—Mysteries of the Soul, Death and Reincarnation, the Subtle Operations of the Unconscious Mind, and the techniques of spiritual enquiry and meditation.
Tulsi Ramayana
This colorful epic originally written by Sage Valmiki in Sanskrit was embellished and rewritten by Sage Tulsidas in Hindi, the popular language of the people. The Ramayana presents lofty ideals covering all relationships in life to serve as an example for all to emulate towards development of a highly cultured society. It encompasses the essence of Vedanta which, when understood and reflected upon, promotes powerful spiritual transformation leading the way to Self-Realization. The discourses and mystical interpretations of Sri Swami Jyotirmayananda provide profound new
dimension to the fascinating and highly imaginative stories of Lord Rama.
The Upanishads
The Upanishads, widely known as “Vedanta”, present the culminating wisdom of the Vedas. The wisdom therein rings with the message: “Brahman, the Absolute Self, is the only Reality; every soul is essentially Brahman; and this world experienced through the mind and senses is Maya, illusory like a mirage.” The message of the Upanishads is timeless in its essence for the spiritual evolution of humankind.
Srimad Bhagavad Gita
The Gita is encompassed within the great epic, Mahabharata, composed by Sage Vyasa many centuries before Christ. This succinct and profound philosophical and spiritual treatise on Vedanta philosophy is presented as a dialogue between Lord Krisha and His beloved disciple, Arjuna. Universal in its exposition of movement towards the fundamental understanding of one’s purpose in life, the Gita is a powerful means of attaining Self-Realization.
Vedanta Philosophy
Through Divine intuition, Swamiji helps us gain insight into the mystery of life by drawing from the ancient truths of the Vedantic Scriptures. He guides us to apply the time-tested techniques of Integral Yoga to unlock the infinite potential of spiritual evolution as we learn that the four aspects of the personality – action, emotion, will, and reason – correspond to the four major yogas – Karma, Bhakti, Raja, and Jnana, respectively. With Swamiji’s guidance, careful study, and persistent effort, we convert our daily action into powerful spiritual practice resulting in personality integration and culminating in Self-Realization.
Raja Yoga Sutras
Raja Yoga literally means Royal Yoga. The Raja Yoga Sutras is an unparalleled work of ancient psychology, parapsychology and spirituality that presents practical guidelines and disciplines for attaining success in every aspect of life, ultimately leading to God-realization.
